SPECTRO DUO began its work in 2013 and consists of two composers and performers, Martyna Kosecka (voice, keys, sound objects, electronics, video) and Idin Samimi Mofakham (alto saxophone, electric guitar, sound objects, electronics).
Their musical focus is on drones, noise, beating phenomena, glitches, field recording transformation, microtonality and non-western tuning systems.
Speectro Duo is visiting Klubb Kanin as part of their «Trailblazers» tour, which in their own words «encapsulates our experiences as immigrants travelling between different countries and finding a creative base in Norway. We will promote our first EP «Travelers» – which will be available on Spotify and Bandcamp from the day of the concert – and play it live for you together with our noisy work «Inevitable Disintegration». Look forward to a lot of drones, noises, microtones and field-recording sounds! Based on our experiences as newcomers since moving from Tehran to Oslo at the end of 2019 and our direct encounter with the new country during the pandemic lockdown, we created an electroacoustic triptych with two interwoven intermezzos. «Travelers» consists of the compositions Pathway, Stowaway and Lost and uses material from field recordings made on 17 May 2020 during Norway’s National Day celebrations. They are about finding one’s way in new communities, and unfamiliar customs and dealing with changes brought about by the sounds reinterpreted by the ensemble.

GYRID & HEATHER, each in their own artistic practices, explore relationships between text, sound, lights and objects. They will bring their interdisciplinary compositional approaches together in this duo for lights, sounds and electronics.
