This second edition of the ‘Discovering Young Composers of Europe’ project returns to Oslo and will not only present an extraordinary concert in Norway but also across Europe to promote and challenge young composers in contemporary classical music. A day to witness a musical language that is not always fully understood but tangible through listening.

Cikada will perform two solo pieces and three ensemble pieces from upcoming young composers participating in the DYCE project. After the concert, the audience will be asked to vote for which of the three ensemble composers will be commissioned for a new ensemble piece to be premiered at the upcoming concert in 2023.

This year, a new addition to the DYCE project is four storytellers who will accompany the composers and document their creative work through film. The storytellers will function as a bridge between the composers, the composer’s inspiration, their collaboration with the musicians as well as the audience and their perception of this musical experience.
