Earlier this year the Kongsberg Jazz Festival announced a preliminary roster featuring Nora Noor, Helge Lien and Farmers Market, the latter to join forces with collective Kaizers Orchestra under the new moniker Kaizers Market. Recently, the festival revealed a new set of well established names on the roster including John Scofield, Zap Mama, Hanne Hukkelberg, The Core, Arild Andersen and Tord Gustavsen. Up-and-coming acts as well as new constellations include the Montgomery-tribute-project WES!, as well as fresh acts Therese Lech/Christian Meaas Svendsen, Supersonic Rocketship and Humvee.

The Molde International Jazz Festival announced its first programme entries earlier this week, featuring several of modern improv’s strongest names such as Cecil Taylor, Japan’s Otomo Yoshihide and Norway’s Supersilent (now as a trio as drummer Jarle Vespestad has left the outfit). The festival has also booked Dutch big band Bik Bent Braam as well former Molde Artist In Residence saxophonist Joshua Redman who brings with him his own trio.
