Metropolitan: Love is Blind

MIC's Listen to Norway series continues with Metropolitan's 'Love is Blind'

Metropolitan: Love is Blind (cover)

Fronted by vocalist/songwriter Beate S. Lech (of Beady Belle fame) and veterans Jon Eberson on guitar and Morten Halle on sax, Metropolitan is a project that draws together some of Norwegian jazz’s greatest performers. The set of original tunes straddle the divide between Nordic chamber jazz (with strings), soul and classic pop without straying into the waters of bland fusion. Lech’s confident phrasing is matched with lasting compositions, rich arrangements and superb playing by Halle and Eberson. Metropolitan represents a highly successful meeting between the generations; the young and eager vocalist and the more mature instrumentalists create a potent brew that should appeal to a wide audience at home and abroad.
