This record is nothing less than a myth materialized. For 27 years the recordings were thought to be lost, and only a few knew that they ever existed. They were made by Norwegian state broadcasting to capture the most radiant of Norwegian jazz musicians at the pinnacle of their creativity and performing mastery. Saxophonist Carl Magnus Neumann was widely regarded first among equals by the Norwegian jazz community of the seventies. On this record he proves why in his exquisite collaboration with pianist and composer Christian Reim. This performance, from the jazz festival in Molde in 76, is the first record they release together as a unit. It features compositions by Reim as well as works by Gershwin and Monk. It took 27 years, but it was well worth waiting for.
