MIC's Listen to Norway series continues with Salvatore's 'Luxus' album
On their fifth album ‘Luxus’ post-rock collective Salvatore continue their successful collaboration with John McEntire (of Tortoise fame). The dub-heavy and droning instrumental collages are given a thorough overhaul by McEntire who adds just the right finishing touch on an album that’s multi-layered, hypnotizing, pulsating and utterly captivating. The rolling grooves are played with a confidence that few bands can equal. Salvatore’s trademark two-drummer set-up creates a pulsating backdrop for tasty guitar work, vocal samples and layers of dub echoes. Listen to this album through your earphones and your head will soon start to nod to the infectious grooves – this is the good stuff.
