Pleasure: Pleasure

MIC's Listen to Norway series continues with Pleasure's 'Pleasure' album.

Pleasure album cover

With an all star line-up of contributors that includes Justine Frischmann (of Elastica fame), Ed Harcourt, Prince side-man Doctor Fink and Catatonia’s Cerys Matthews, producer and songwriter Fred Ball debuts with a bang. The aptly titled album is indeed full of pleasure with its 80s-tinged, electroesque romps, infectious tunes that set things in motion with broken rhythms, strong melody lines and a well developed sense of style. His celebrity cohorts provide just the right amount of vocal assistance needed to propel this album into the upper spectrum of contemporary pop – this is the sound of future Norway, and the future looks bright. ‘Pleasure’ is a bold, ambitious and brilliant debut by an astute young songwriter and producer. The album is utterly self-fulfilling – rarely has an act been better named.
