Over Stok og Sten: Til Almuen

MIC’s Listen to Norway series continues with Over Stok og Sten’s Til Almuen.

Over stok og sten: Til Almuen (cover)

The ensemble Over Stok og Sten have specialized in interpreting traditional folk tunes from the district of Hedemarken, the flatland villages in the eastern part of central Norway. The musical traditions found in this region are wide-ranging in their historic content, form and expression – a variety that the ensemble respect in their lively renditions of 18th century minuets, peasant’s polkas, farmer’s fandangos and wistful love songs. The recording pays homage to the composers, village fiddlers, ballad singers, farmers and peasants hailing from the Hedemarken and is a lasting documentation of a rich musical heritage.
