With four solo albums and platinum sales to his credit, Morten Abel is the undisputed king of Norwegian pop. Whereas earlier outings have been firmly established in the classic pop tradition, ‘being everything. knowing nothing’ briefly moves into new and uncharted territory, borrowing a thing or two from hip-hop and r’n’b. ‘being everything. knowing nothing’ is filled to the brim with upbeat, quirky and harmonic pop tunes that bear the thumbprint of Norway’s most successful songsmith of the last decade. His play with words and interesting take on melody lines bear witness of a mature songwriter with a playful and keen mind. Abel matures as an artist by allowing himself to experiment more with song structures and lyrics, leaving the listener with his most easygoing and charming album to date.
