TONO was established 75 years ago to protect the rights of Norwegian and foreign composers, authors and publishers of music. The grand old organisation is still young in spirit and offers free concerts with a bunch of artists. Thomas Dybdahl, BIT 20 Percussion, and Morten Abel are some of the performers the Norwegian audience can enjoy. Sound and pictures from all the free concerts will be accessible from www.vg.no/musikkextra (in Norwegian only).

The foreign audience can also take part in the celebration by downloading music for free. FONO and Phonofile are making their music database available, and from 24 - 29 November, almost 50 000 music files are accessible from www.musikkonline.no (Please observe: Norwegian version only). MIC's English download site is available as usual, but free downloads are only available from musikkonline.no

FONO is the Association of Norwegian Record Companies and Phonofile is the Norwegian digital music archive, and central distribution office for audio. Musiconline is a commercial service, owned by Phonofile, where customers can buy and download music files..

During the celebration week, TONO encourage everyone engaged in music to increase the focus on Norwegian music. TV- and radio stations, newspapers, concert halls, record stores are asked to fill their space with Norwegian music.

“We have chosen to dedicate this week to Norwegian music, and to show that we are willing to meet the new technology. We wish to celebrate ourselves by giving away all the Norwegian music on musiconline.no”, says Managing Director in TONO, Cato Strøm.
