Moon Orchestra: You'll know when you get there

MICs Listen to Norway series continues with Moon Orchestra’s debut record You’ll know when you get there

Moon Orchestra: You'll know when you get there

Moon Orchestra’s lone member Jon Platou Selvig manages to capture the zeitgeist masterfully on his first album “You’ll know when you get there”. Moon Orchestra is all about feel-good vibes: relaxed beats, serene strings and pleasing melody lines that intertwine to produce a sterling electronica album. Moon Orchestra stands out in the crowd of bland chill-out acts with a solid focus on strong melodies and delicate arrangements. Equipped with a well-developed sense of aesthetics, Moon Orchestra avoids the pitfalls of the genre: unfocused muzac that can be filed in the “elevator music” category. The tunes on “You’ll know when you get there” range from polyrhythmic latin beats adorned with lush strings to intricate broken beats with challenging harmonic structures – varied and well executed.
