Norwegian free-jazz crossing borders

Free-improvisation collectives TZUG and No Spaghetti Edition are bound for Switzerland, Austria, The Czech Republic and Slovakia on their upcoming European tour.

Supported by Norwegian Jazz Forum and The Fund for Performing Artists, the two ensembles are in for concerts in Locarno (Switzerland), Vienna, Bratislava, Praha, Graz (Austria) and Zürich. The tour was kicked off on November 28 when TZUG performed at LaRada in Locarno, Switzerland. The ensembles will be on tour from November 28 to December 8. TZUG is a trio consisting of guitarist Ivar Grydeland, bassist Tonny Kluften and Ingar Zach on drums and percussion. All are highly competent members of the Norwegian improvisation scene and have performed in a wide range of bands and projects.

No Spaghetti Edition is made up of some of Norway’s finest jazz performers. The line-up includes Phil Minton’s voice, Pat Thomas on various electronics, saxophonist Håkon Kornstad, Frode Haltli on accordion, and the above mentioned Grydeland, Zach and Kluften.

Both ensembles release their records on SOFA, a highly respected independent Norwegian label focussing on improvised music.
